Description

Isaac Newton was born in England in 1642 according to the calendar used there at the time. He became a mathematician, physicist, and astronomer whose work deeply influenced the development of modern science.

Newton described three laws of motion and a mathematical law of universal gravitation. His 1687 book, often called the Principia, explained how the same physical principles could describe falling objects, moving bodies, and the paths of planets.

He also studied light by passing a beam through a glass prism and showing that white light contains a range of colors. The famous apple story is connected with his questions about why objects fall and whether gravity reaches as far as the Moon. Newton also helped develop a new form of reflecting telescope.

This Isaac Newton coloring page shows the scientist holding a prism beside an apple and closed book. Print it for science history, gravity or light lessons, biography projects, and online coloring.
